Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has insisted that the presidential primary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was rigged to produce former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as winner.
Lawal who spoke during an interview on Channels TV’s programme Politics Today on Monday night also claimed that he had evidence to back up his allegation
Lawal who stated that he personally monitored the exercise, said, “Don’t forget I was the National Vice Chairman (North-East). I was in the field during the exercise, so I have evidence. Atiku’s people are the ones trying to deny what they did. We are all human beings. We know what they did.
“I knew the primary was rigged at the point it was being done, and the results declared,” he said.
Atiku emerged as the ADC’s standard-bearer after defeating Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in a closely watched contest that positioned the party as a major player in the race for the 2027 presidency.
