The police have been formally informed about the incident but the family alleged that there is no sign that they are doing anything about it.

The Bauchi State Police Command has been accused of failing to act appropriately in the case involving the abduction of a seven-year-old girl, Zainab Abdulrasaq.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, a family source noted that the victim was kidnapped while returning from school.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on January 20, 2025.

“A car with tinted windows blocked the school bus carrying the victim, her nanny and other children. They forcefully opened the bus, picked her alone and zoomed off,” the source said.

Recounting the incident, it was alleged that the bus was intercepted by “two yet-to-be-identified security agents (police and NSCDC) riding a covered Toyota car with a covered number plate” at Niima Hospital Close in the GRA area of Bauchi State.

The police have been formally informed about the incident but the family alleged that there is no sign that they are doing anything about it.

“The police have been informed but it is devastating that there has been no major action at least to get the child out; we are seeking help so that we can get this girl back,” the family source said.

According to the family, the complaint was lodged by the school principal on Monday, January 20, with the state police command.

The principal was accompanied by the bus driver and the school nanny.

When SaharaReporters contacted the Police Public Relations Officer of Bauchi State, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, he said he was not aware of the incident.

“I have not received any signal on the case. The family can reach out to my office but I do not have information about the report of the incident and I do not want to make comments on what I’m not aware of,” he told SaharaReporters.
