Fresh crisis is looming in the camp of the OK Movement, which is mobilising Nigerians to ensure the victory of the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, following the immediate resignation of its Director-General, Peter Ameh.
The social, people-powered political force, a platform for former Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements, came into existence following the merger of the Obi and Kwankwaso political structures after the duo resolved to run on a single presidential ticket.
In the resignation letter he personally signed and made available in Abuja on Tuesday, Ameh, the National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), hinged his decision on the need to concentrate on his legislative campaign for next year’s general elections.
Titled “Resignation as Director-General of the OK Movement”, Ameh commended Peter Obi for his exemplary leadership, unwavering integrity, and enduring credibility, noting that these qualities inspired the formation of the OK Movement and continued to shape its vision and purpose.
The letter read: “I hereby formally tender my resignation as Director-General of the OK Movement, effective immediately. I humbly accept any individual appointed by my leader to succeed me in this role.
“I wish to express my profound gratitude to my leader, Mr. Peter Obi, for his exemplary leadership, unwavering integrity, and enduring credibility. These qualities inspired the formation of the OK Movement and have continued to shape its vision and purpose.
“This decision will enable me to devote the necessary time and energy to my campaign for the Kogi East Senatorial District, where I am the candidate of the NDC.
“I remain firmly committed to the ideals that united us and wish the OK Movement every success in its future endeavours,” he noted.
