Frozen Food Recalls Issued in 31 States Due to Metal Contamination

ALDI announced on Monday that it is recalling Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos in 31 states due to reports of the frozen food product containing a “potential foreign material.”

In a Monday press release, the company said, “In cooperation with Bestway Sandwiches, Inc., and out of an abundance of caution, ALDI Inc., (‘ALDI’) recalls Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos in 31 states. The affected product from Bestway Sandwiches Inc. is being recalled due to potential foreign material, metal.”

According to the press release, the recall is for the 20-ounce boxes of Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos with a universal product code (UPC) code of 4061459337471. ALDI noted that the best-buy dates for the recalled frozen food products are 07/02/25 and 9/25/25.

“ALDI puts the safety and integrity of the products it sells first,” ALDI wrote in Monday’s press release. “If customers have products affected by this recall, they are advised to discard it immediately or return it to their local store for a full refund.”

The company added, “ALDI sincerely regrets the inconvenience and concern caused as a result of this recall.”

According to the company, the frozen food products affected by the recall were sold at “select ALDI stores” in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

In Monday’s press release, ALDI encouraged customers impacted by the frozen food recall to contact Bestway Foods Co. at (818) 361-1800 Ext. 110 for help with a refund or for answers to any questions regarding the company’s recall.

According to Fox Business, while food recalls over metal contamination concerns are typically uncommon, Perdue Foods LLC issued a similar recall in August when the company recalled more than 165,000 pounds of frozen chicken tenders and chicken nuggets due to concerns of metal contamination.

Fox Business reported that the August recall incident was announced by the United States Department of Agriculture after reports surfaced of metal wire in the company’s chicken tenders and chicken nuggets.
