The Rivers State Government, on Thursday, refuted claims that a High Court issued an order preventing the newly appointed Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.) from assuming office. The denial comes amid growing political tensions in the state.

Dr. Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to the suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara, dismissed the reports as baseless and malicious, attributing them to individuals seeking to further inflame the already volatile political climate. In a strongly worded statement released on Thursday, Ehie categorically denied filing any lawsuit challenging Ibas’s appointment, calling the allegations “the handiwork of low minds.”

“My attention has been drawn to an obvious fake news report being spread on social media by delusional individuals bent on aggravating the already tense political atmosphere in Rivers State,” the statement read.

“The claim that I secured an order from the Rivers State High Court preventing Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.) from resuming duties is completely false.”

Ehie went on to criticize the credibility of the allegations, pointing out inconsistencies in the supposed lawsuit. He remarked that even the author of the claim failed to correctly spell his name or provide verifiable details such as the suit number or court hearing date.

“The truth is that even the originator of this misinformation is so uneducated that they could not correctly spell my name or those of the individuals they purport to write about,” he added.

“The general public, and particularly the good people of Rivers State, should disregard this baseless and malicious claim. It is nothing more than an attempt to create discord while painting me as a non-conformist.”

Ehie reaffirmed his commitment to lawful conduct and decorum, emphasizing that he harbors no intention of disrupting governance in the state.

He urged residents to remain vigilant against the spread of misinformation and to resist attempts to incite unnecessary political strife.
