Full Identity of Young Man Shot Dead in Ugep Revealed

Eko Okpantum

Ugep, Cross River – A tragic incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, December 8, 2024, in Ijiman Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State, leaving one person dead.

The victim, identified as Eko Okpantum, a commercial driver from Lekpakom Ijiman Ugep, was shot dead at approximately 9:50 pm in the Apostolic Primary School field Ugep.

According to eyewitnesses, Eko was with a female companion, alleged to be his side chick, when the incident occurred. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, fled the scene without alerting anyone. “She is currently in police custody for questioning,” a source disclosed.

“The deceased’s body has been deposited in the mortuary, and the police have commenced their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Eko’s death,” the anonymous source added.

In a bid to calm tensions and prevent any reprisal attacks, the Ijiman NYCN Coordinator, Mr Sunday Ojei, urged the youths of Ijiman to remain peaceful and calm, assuring them that the investigation is ongoing to identify the perpetrator.

The police are working tirelessly to unravel the mystery behind Eko’s tragic demise. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains in shock, mourning the loss of a young life.
