98 lawyers have been shortlisted by the Legal Practitioners Privilege Committee (LPPC) for the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary of the LPPC, Hajo Sarki Bello, on Monday, 1st July 2024, inviting the general public to make comments on the integrity, competence, and reputation of the lawyers and not an indication of their success in the process.
According to the statement, a total of 87 lawyers were shortlisted for the advocate category and 11 in the academic category.
The document stated that every complaint(s) made must be accompanied by a verifying affidavit deposed to by the author before a Superior Court of Record in Nigeria or before a Notary public which must be in twenty copies.
“Every complaint(s) must be accompanied by a verifying affidavit deposed to by the author before a Superior Court of Record in Nigeria or before a Notary Public and be in twenty (20) copies.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the publication of the names of the shortlisted applicants is not an indication of their success in the process,” the statement read in part.
