Gabon’s Transitional President, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, has officially announced his candidacy for the upcoming April 12 presidential election.

Speaking at the City of Democracy on Monday, March 3, the leader, who took power in a coup d’état on August 30, 2023, emphasized his commitment to continuing the “renaissance” of Gabon initiated under his transitional presidency.

He outlined his vision for the country, stressing the need for hard work, economic growth, and national unity.

Following the lifting of sanctions, the Gabonese Head of Government noted the country’s successful reintegration into the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), cementing it’s diplomatic relations.

He urged citizens to rally behind his leadership for the love of Gabon, as he plans to set the country on a path that will drive enhanced economic transformation.
