Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann will name his squad for the Nations League Final Four on May 22, five days after the final Bundesliga matchday, the country’s football federation announced on Wednesday.

Germany will face Portugal in the semi-final in Munich on June 4.
The second semi-final will be played a day later in Stuttgart between European champions Spain and World Cup runners-up France.

The final will take place in Munich on Sunday June 8, with the match for third place in Stuttgart on the same day.

Nagelsmann’s squad could include prominent players returning after long injury absences, such as goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and striker Niclas Füllkrug.

Centre back Nico Schlotterbeck is definitely out but there are question marks surrounding injured Arsenal forward Kai Havertz and defender Antonio Rüdiger, who has undergone knee surgery and is a big doubt.

His recent red card for Real Madrid, where he threw an object at the referee, has also led to calls for him to be dropped by Nagelsmann.

The squad is being announced ahead of the German Cup final between Stuttgart and Arminia Bielefeld on May 24. Stuttgart boast some Germany squad regulars.

The absence of German players in the Champions League final on May 31, assuming Havertz is not involved, boosts Nagelsmann’s preparation plans.
