The Ghanaian government has declared the country’s former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, wanted for alleged corruption.
The country’s special prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Accra.
He alleged that Ofori-Atta who served under former President Nana Akufo-Addo caused the government financial losses in high-profile transactions.
“The ex-minister has two choices: either return to the jurisdiction voluntarily or the OSP (Office of the Special Prosecutor) will enforce his return,” the prosecutor added.
Agyebeng revealed that Ofori-Atta approved the release of substantial state funds for the construction of the controversial National Cathedral project in Accra.
The former president initiated the construction of the cathedral to celebrate his success in the 2016 election.
