CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Cross River State Indigenous Gospel Ministers (CRSIGM) Forum has concluded plans to formally adopt and endorse Distinguished Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, Senator representing Cross River South, for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The highly anticipated adoption ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 26 March 2026, at Mary Ekpiken Hall, Channel View Hotel, Calabar. It is expected to attract key stakeholders, faith leaders, political actors, and members of the public from across the State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Forum described the planned adoption as a “deliberate and well-considered decision,” anchored on Senator Ekpenyong’s demonstrable leadership, impactful legislative engagements, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people of Cross River Southern Senatorial District.

According to the Forum, the Senator has distinguished himself through people-centred representation, strategic legislative contributions, and sustained constituency outreach that have positively impacted communities across the district. His role in national discourse and policy formulation, the statement noted, reflects courage, intellect, and a deep sense of responsibility.

CRSIGM also used the opportunity to call on stakeholders, community leaders, and residents of Cross River Southern Senatorial District to rally behind the Senator, emphasising the need for sustained, effective, and progressive representation.

The event is expected to formally seal the Forum’s endorsement, signalling a significant show of support from the faith-based community ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
