Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has approved the appointment of 107, including one commissioner, seven Director-Generals (DGs), 38 Directors, 30 SAs (Senior Special Advisers, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants) and 32 others, including Board Chairmen, Secretaries, and Members.
The appointments were contained in a release signed by Linus Obogo, Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, and made available to Converseer on Saturday.
According to the release, this is in furtherance of Otu administration’s commitment to strengthening the machinery of government and advancing excellence, innovation, efficiency and sustainable development.
“His Excellency extends his congratulations to the beneficiaries of the new appointments and charges them to justify the confidence reposed in them through unyielding dedication, exemplary professionalism, integrity, diligence and a steadfast commitment to the service of Cross River State and its people,” part of the statement read.
Amongst the appointees was Obi Ayuk, who was appointed Commissioner for Tourism and Culture. He replaces late Abubakar Ewa, who died in January 2025 at the age of 61.
Those appointed Director-Generals were Hon. Agbor Bassey as DG Rural Development Agency, Hon Ene Cobham as DG Cross River Agricultural Input Supply Agency, Mr Efa Nyong as DG State Emergency Management Agency SEMA), Dr Uffiah Okpan as DG AIDS Control (SACA), Engr. Raymond Nnandi as DG Cross River State Agency for Industrial Development, Ndifon Etok Ojogu as DG RUWATSSA, and Ako Nsa Ekpenyong as DG Women Development Centre.
