Gov Otu constitutes Judicial Commission over NDDC saga

CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has constituted a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the allegations of disruption of some projects unveiled hosted by the Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in the Calabar Metropolis.

Recall that on 13th June 2025, there was an abrupt disruption of events at the sites where the NDDC was commissioning road projects in the state’s capital.

In a press statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, on Monday, 16th June 2025, the Governor approved the constitution of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the said allegations and ascertain the truth from the divergent narratives in the public domain.

According to the statement, “The Commission shall identify the perpetrators and make appropriate recommendations for further disciplinary and/or criminal proceedings to be pursued against identified perpetrators.

“The Commission is to conclude its inquiry and submit a report on or before the 1st of July 2025.”

The Commission has the following membership:

  3. Mrs Mary Akpet – Member
  4. James A. Oyi, Esq. – Member
  5. Barr. (Mrs) Stella Iki – Secretary

The outcome of the investigation shall determine the way forward for the state regarding the NDDC projects.
