As part of his strategic investment and trade mission to China, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, alongside his Nasarawa State counterpart, held a high-level business roundtable with GCL Group, one of China’s leading global energy companies, founded by renowned billionaire entrepreneur Mr Zhu Gongshan.

The engagement focused on strengthening economic cooperation and attracting transformative investments to Nigeria, particularly in the renewable energy sector. GCL Group is a global leader across the energy value chain, with an impressive track record of developing thermal and renewable power projects across China and other international markets.

During the meeting, GCL Group expressed strong interest in investing in solar energy projects in Zamfara State and exploring strategic partnerships that will accelerate the state’s industrialisation agenda, expand access to reliable electricity, and stimulate sustainable economic growth.

To translate these discussions into concrete outcomes, both parties agreed to establish a joint technical working group that will immediately begin developing a framework for collaboration. This will be followed by an official GCL Group investment and technical mission to Zamfara State to advance the proposed projects.

The engagement reflects Governor Dauda Lawal’s commitment to positioning Zamfara as a preferred destination for global investment through strategic international partnerships capable of delivering lasting economic development and prosperity for the people of the state.
