The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti of Abia, has lifted an embargo on promotion of staff of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic (formerly Abia Polytechnic) Aba.
Former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration placed an embargo on staff promotion in the polytechnic in 2015.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Umuahia.
The governor also approved all accumulated promotions of the staff of the institution.
He equally abolished the “National Promotions” practice in the polytechnic.
“The polytechnic staff appreciated the governor for living up to his promise of defraying the 33 months arrears of salaries owed them by the immediate past administration.
“They also thanked him for implementing regular payment of their salaries as and when due and putting infrastructures and measures in place to upgrade the standard of the institution,” the statement added.
