Abuja, Nigeria – In a move to strengthen educational infrastructure in Cross River State, Governor Sen. Bassey Otu visited the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday for a strategic engagement aimed at advancing the state’s higher education sector.
Governor Otu appealed to TETFund to provide special support for the newly established Cross River State University of Education and Entrepreneurship.
Specifically, he requested assistance in constructing a comprehensive facility dedicated to practical skills training for the university, which is envisioned to be a hub for human capital development in the state.
The governor emphasised that improving practical skills and educational infrastructure is vital to addressing pressing issues such as underdevelopment, poverty, and unemployment.
“Human capital development is key to confronting the challenges that our state faces,” Otu stated, underscoring his administration’s commitment to empowering young people with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s economy.
The visit to TETFund aligns with Governor Otu’s broader educational agenda for Cross River, focusing on equipping future generations with quality education and practical skills.
The governor’s appeal seeks to harness TETFund’s resources to ensure that the new university can serve as a transformative institution for both the state and its students.
The meeting concluded with discussions on potential collaborations, with TETFund’s management acknowledging the state’s request and expressing interest in supporting infrastructure that could enhance education and skill development in the region.
The meeting was presided over by TETFund Chairman Alhaji Aminu Masari.
