Gunmen Abduct Woman, Kill Retired Army Officer In Nasarawa Community

Suspected gunmen attacked a residential community bordering the Federal Capital Territory in Nasarawa State, abducting a woman and shooting dead a retired Nigerian Army officer during a midnight raid.

Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who reported the incident on Saturday, said it occurred at about 12:45 am on Friday.

The attackers struck a residence at Plot 038, PGC Community, near Jikwoyi in the FCT border area.

Police said the attackers invaded a home owned by a man identified as Silas Orite, 46, and abducted his wife, Bukola Oluwatoyin Silas, 40, taking her to an unknown destination.

During the attack, a retired Nigerian Army officer responded in an attempt to assist the family and was shot dead.

He was identified as the Community Chief Security Officer, Master Warrant Officer Reuben Yelwa, aged 61.

The police reportedly visited the scene, documented evidence and launched investigations into the incident.
