Hajj Commission Announces 2025 Pilgrimage Fares: Southerners to Pay N8.78m, Northerners N8.46m

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has pegged the 2025 Hajj fare for intending pilgrims at varying amounts based on their locations.

In the new arrangement, Southern pilgrims are to pay N8.78 million, while those in the Borno and Adamawa zones will pay N8.33 million.

Pilgrims from the Northern states will part with N8.46 million for the spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia.

The commission’s chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Assistant Director of Information and Publication, Fatima Usara.

He said the fare structure was the outcome of extensive consultations involving the presidency, state pilgrims’ boards, and other stakeholders.

“This modest effort was achieved after extensive consultations to ensure inclusivity in the decision-making process,” the statement read.

A Breakdown of the Costs

Southern States: N8.78 million

Northern Zone: N8.46 million

Borno and Adamawa Zones: N8.33 million

The differentiated pricing has elicited mixed-reactions from prospective pilgrims. Some have expressed concerns about affordability, particularly in light of the rising cost of living, while others commended NAHCON for unveiling the fare early.

The commission urged intending pilgrims to register promptly, make timely payments, and adhere to Saudi Arabia’s Hajj guidelines to ensure a seamless process.

Usman warned that delays would lead to logistical challenges or even missed opportunities for the pilgrims.
