Bekwarra, Cross River State – Hon. Theresa Akwaji Ushie, alongside her running mate, Comr. Egbung Odama Egbung, received the Certificate of Return today as Chairman-Elect of Bekwarra Local Government Area following their decisive victory in the November 2nd, 2024 Local Government Election.
The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) declared Ushie and her team winners after they secured an overwhelming lead.
The newly elected leaders were joined by thousands of enthusiastic supporters as they celebrated this milestone.
Ushie, visibly moved, expressed deep gratitude to God and the people of Bekwarra for entrusting her with the opportunity to serve. “This is a privilege I do not take lightly,” she stated, “and I promise to dedicate myself fully to the progress and unity of Bekwarra.”
In a heartfelt speech, Ushie dedicated her Certificate of Return to the entire Bekwarra community, emphasising that her leadership would be inclusive and focused on creating a “New Bekwarra.”
She acknowledged supporters across political divides, both within Bekwarra and abroad, and extended her thanks to men and women who believed in her vision for the community’s future.
The chairman-elect pledged her commitment to a transformative agenda, asking residents to keep faith in her administration while also seeking prayers for divine guidance in delivering the best for Bekwarra.
