A woman has shared a painful reflection on her marriage, revealing that she spent months praying for God to take her husband’s money away because she believed it was contributing to her unhappiness.

The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, said she later realised that her prayers had focused on changing her husband’s financial situation rather than addressing the circumstances that were making her unhappy.

According to her, the experience ultimately changed the way she viewed her situation and the choices available to her.

Reflecting on the period, the woman said, “I spent months praying for God to take my husband’s money away because that money was causing me so much pain.”

She explained that, with hindsight, she believed she had been praying for the wrong thing.

The woman added, “But looking back, I realised I was praying for the wrong thing.”

She said her real need was not for her husband to lose his money but for her to find the strength to make a difficult decision about her own life.

She further stated, “I should have been praying for the courage to remove myself from a situation that was making me unhappy.”

Her reflection has highlighted a broader conversation around marriage, personal happiness and the importance of recognising when an individual may need to make difficult choices rather than waiting for circumstances or another person to change.

The woman’s account has also drawn attention to the emotional complexities that can exist within marriages, particularly where money and personal wellbeing become closely connected.
