Ikenga Imo best federal legislator from Orlu zone -Group

From George Onyejiuwa, Owerri

Member representing Ideato North/South Federal constituency, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has been declared as the best performing federal legislator from Imo West senatorial zone (Orlu) by the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, the  umbrella body of youths from the 12 local governments of Orlu zone.

The body also gave Senator Osita Izunaso, representing the zone, and Hon. Eugene Diabiagwu, representing Ohaji/Egbema/Oru West federal constituency pass marks, while Hon. Canice Moore Nwachukwu, representing Orlu/Oru East/Orsu and Hon. Harrison Nwadike, representing Isu/Njaba/Nkwerre/Nwangele Federal constituencies allegedly failed in  their legislative duties.

Similarly, the youth group, in its legislative performance assessment, declared that Hon. Chyna Iwuanyanwnu, representing Nwangele state constituency and the deputy speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly as the best legislator from the Orlu Senatorial zone of Imo.

Prince Izunna Obiefule, National President of the group, stated this during the unveiling of the legislative performance assessment report carried out by the group on the performance of elected legislators representing the zone, both at the federal and state level between 2023 and 2026.

He said that the legislative performance assessment undertaken by the youth body was not an act of political propaganda or instrument of political persecution, but a constructive unbiased civic initiative designed to strengthen democracy through objective performance evaluation.

He noted that the assessment indicated that while some legislators demonstrated appreciable legislative participation, the overwhelming concerns expressed by the constituents during the exercise centred on inadequate constituency engagement, lack of accountability, weak communication of legislative activities, and insufficient empowerment programmes.

“The best performing member of the House of Representatives from the Orlu Senatorial zone is Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu, representing Ideato North/South Federal constituency of Imo State. The worst performing member of the House of Representatives is Hon. Canice Moore Chukwugize Nwachukwu, representing Orlu/Oru East/Orsu Federal constituency from Orlu zone. Best performing member of the State House of Assembly from the zone is Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwnu, representing Nwangele state constituency and the deputy speaker. The worst performing member of the state House Assembly is the member representing Ideato North state constituency, Hon. Udeze Ernest Okechukwu.

Continuing, “These rankings are neither a verdict on the worth of any individual nor an endorsement of any political interest. Rather, they are a reflection of evidence gathered during this assessment and views expressed by constituents across the Orlu Senatorial zone.”

We congratulate those whose performance earned commendation and encourage them to sustain and improve upon their achievements. We equally urge those whose performance fell below public expectations to regard this report as a constructive call to deepen engagement with their constituents, strengthen legislative visibility, expand empowerment initiatives, and embrace greater transparency and accountability”, Prince Obiefule admonished.
