A Nigerian man, Hassan Idris, was left heartbroken after the first girl he ever loved got married to another man.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, April 20, 2025, Hassan expressed his grief while recalling forgettable memories with her.

“Yesterday—the first girl I ever loved in my entire life got married—as if the ground should open and swallow me. I wept! I wished her a blessed home when I stumbled across her wedding pictures. I know I’m shattered and scattered because, we both hold the unforgettable memories of each other,” he wrote.

“I know very well that these days are days of grief for me. Grief from the fact that I never got what I so much loved and cherished. But, we both are not meant for each other for today—we have turned into strangers who hold one another’s unforgettable memories, secrets and dirges. I will be fine; being off this space will fasten my healing process.

“To those who reached out to me on calls and on WhatsApp, I’m grateful, and I appreciate you all. The time to go for a break once more has come; I’m going back to a house full of pains and grief. A lonely space with pains that can’t be explained. Like I said—I will be fine.”
