A yet-to-be-identified man has allegedly killed his wife inside a church in Imo State and fled with two of their children, leaving behind a four-month-old baby.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at Owaelu in Owerri North Local Government Area.

State Police Public Relations Officer Henry Okoye confirmed the killing in a statement. According to him, the lifeless body of the woman was discovered on the church premises after she was allegedly murdered by her husband.

Okoye said the suspect escaped immediately after the act with two of their children. A suckling baby was left behind and has since been rescued and handed over to a trusted family relative.

“The Imo State Police Command is aware of the tragic incident reported this morning at Owaelu, Owerri North LGA, where the lifeless body of a woman, allegedly killed by her husband, was discovered on church premises,” Okoye stated.

“The suspect reportedly fled with two of their children, leaving behind a suckling baby, who has since been rescued and handed over to a trusted family relative.”
