Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command on Thursday, March 27, repelled an attack by daredevil bandits in Keta town of Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Office of the command, DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed this in a statement he issued in Gusau.

According to Abubakar, the police also neutralised a large number of bandits, including a wanted notorious kingpin ”Dan Mudale”, who had been terrorising Tsafe and its environs.

The spokesperson said: “At approximately 1540hrs, a good Samaritan reported that a large number of armed bandits had stormed Keta town with the intention of perpetrating inhumane acts.

“In response, a joint operation comprising the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, hunters, and Community Protection Guards mobilised and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle.”

The PPRO, however, said one police personnel, four members of the Community Protection Guard and two hunters d!ed in the attack.

The police said two hunters were receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau.

The police reassured the people of the state of its total commitment to restoring peace and urged citizens to report any suspicious behavior to the security agencies for prompt action.
