By Joseph Abasi-Abasi

CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Cross River State chapter of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has reaffirmed its support for Governor Bassey Otu, passing a resounding vote of confidence in recognition of what it described as his “legendary and enviable” achievements in office.

The declaration was made on Friday at a high-level stakeholders meeting held in Calabar under the theme “He Whom the Cap Fits.”

Speaking at the event, the State Chairman of IPAC, Engr. Effiom Edet Okon, praised the governor’s two-year administration for transforming the state across multiple sectors, citing significant improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, security, education, and prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities.

“We are an embodiment of different political parties in Nigeria with different ideologies, but we have found common ground in endorsing the leadership of Prince Bassey Otu,” Okon said.

Adding, “After a thorough assessment, we are confident that the governor is steering Cross River in the right direction.”

He emphasised IPAC’s role as a mediator between the government and citizens. He said the council was united in supporting the governor’s vision and performance, calling the vote of confidence a show of gratitude from the political community.

Stakeholders from various sectors, including the Muslim community, transport unions, and student groups, echoed the sentiments, commending the governor for a leadership style they described as inclusive, impactful, and responsive.

Responding on behalf of Governor Otu, the Senior Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Chief Jake Otu Enyia, expressed appreciation for the vote of confidence, saying the administration remained committed to delivering good governance and inclusive development.

“We receive this message with admiration, with love, and with elevation,” Enyia stated.

Enyia further stated that, “This appreciation is not orchestrated by those in power, but by the people who are feeling the impact of good governance. And when the people say you’ve done well, there’s nothing wrong with that.”

He added that the administration has created numerous opportunities for residents and called on all citizens to work together for the progress of the state.

According to reports, Governor Otu, who assumed office in 2023, has focused on infrastructure rehabilitation, civil service reform, and human capital development, positioning his administration as one driven by results and people-centred policies.

Friday’s endorsement by IPAC is expected to further solidify his political capital as his government moves into the next phase of its development agenda.
