CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Movement for United PDP (MUPDP) has strongly condemned what it describes as “divisive rhetoric” aimed at creating a non-existent leadership tussle between Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe and Senator Sandy Ojang Onor within the Cross River State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement issued on Thursday, the MUPDP categorically stated that there is no leadership battle between the two distinguished Senators.

The group asserted that both Jarigbe and Onor are working “assiduously, in close collaboration, to revive and reorganise the party’s structures across the state and beyond.”

Adding, “We view these statements as dangerous, ill-timed, sponsored and capable of causing unnecessary friction within the party at a time when genuine efforts are underway to stabilise, reconcile, and reposition the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

The statement jointly signed by Comrade Ushie Paul, National Coordinator, and Comrade Oka Ikpi, National Secretary, MUPDP, emphasised that Senators Jarigbe and Onor remain united in their shared commitment to rebuilding the PDP as a formidable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Movement for United PDP urged “splinter groups and self-styled support organisations” said to be financed by Third Force from outside the party, to cease spreading false narratives and insinuating internal crises.

They warned that such actions “serve no one and only play into the hands of political opponents who thrive on division and disunity within the PDP.”

The statement further clarified that Senator Jarigbe Agom remains focused on his legislative duties and party-building responsibilities, and should not be associated with any supposed face-off with Senator Sandy Onor, with whom he reportedly maintains “mutual respect and a common vision for the future of the PDP in Cross River State.”

It called on the ruling APC and its agents to concentrate on delivering their mandates as promised during electioneering rather than engaging in politics of mudslinging and name-calling at the slightest dissenting voices.

The MUPDP concluded by appealing to all loyal party members, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters to “remain calm, focused, and united as the PDP moves toward a new era of consolidation and progress.

“They stressed that the future of the party depends on ‘collective effort, mutual respect, and the strategic alignment of all forces of progress,’ rather than factionalism or power play.
