Saidu Yahaya the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission PCACC Kano Anti-Graft Agency Uncovers Sale Of Free Mosquito Nets

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) says it has uncovered the alleged diversion and sale of more than 1,000 insecticide-treated mosquito nets meant for free distribution to residents.

The commission disclosed this in a statement on Thursday by its Public Relations Officer, Isa Mansur-Bello.

According to the statement, the Chairman of the commission, Saidu Yahaya, said a store officer in Minjibir Local Government Area had been arrested in connection with the alleged diversion of the mosquito nets.

Yahaya said the mosquito nets were supplied by the Kano State Government, with support from development partners, for free distribution to residents as part of efforts to reduce the burden of malaria across the state.

He described the alleged diversion and sale of the mosquito nets as an act of sabotage capable of undermining the government’s malaria prevention programme and depriving intended beneficiaries of the intervention.

The commission disclosed that the suspect has been arraigned before a court and is being prosecuted over the alleged offence.
