Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested three suspected car thieves and recovered two stolen vehicles.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the suspects were arrested during a routine patrol along Yankaba-Hadejia Road, Kano-Ringim Expressway.

“In compliance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM on ensuring round the clock visibility patrols, the Kano State Police Command has achieved a significant milestone in the fight against crime,” the statement read.

“Following intensified visibility patrols across state borders, our operatives have successfully apprehended three suspects involved in car theft and recovered two stolen motor vehicles.

“On 2nd March 2025, at 3:00 pm, a team from the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) conducted a routine patrol along Yankaba-Hadejia Road, Kano-Ringim Express Way, based on credible intelligence.

The team intercepted and arrested the following individuals:  Sani Sirajo, 20 years old, from Kaduna State, Rabiu Aliyu, 35 years old, from Sharada Quarters, Kano and  Isah Yakubu, 22 years old, from Katsina State.

“During the arrest, the team recovered two stolen motor vehicles: Honda Jazz (Ash in color) with registration number SUL 173, Pontiac Vibe (White in color) with registration number SUL 516 SM.

“This operation demonstrates the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and properties in Kano State. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects stole the vehicles from Keffi in Nassarawa State, and they have since confessed to their involvement in the theft.

“Investigation is currently ongoing and the vehicles will be handed over to their rightful owners. We assure the public that we remain vigilant and committed to combating crime in all its forms.

“We encourage everyone to continue providing credible information to the Police as we work collaboratively to ensure a safer environment for all.”
