The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, on Monday visited Mushin for an on-the-spot assessment following a reported improvised explosive device (IED) scare in the area.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, which disclosed the development in a post on X, the visit followed a distress call alleging that an explosion had occurred in the early hours of Monday.
The command said operatives of its Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear unit were immediately deployed to the scene.
It stated that after cordoning off the area and carrying out a thorough assessment, search and recovery operation, the location was declared safe and free of any IED threat.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, today visited Mushin for an on-the-spot assessment following a reported IED scare.
“Following a distress call alleging an explosion in the early hours of today, operatives of the EOD-CBRN Unit were immediately deployed to the scene. After cordoning off the area and conducting a thorough assessment, search, and recovery operation, the location was declared safe and free of any IED threat,” the command said.
The police commissioner urged residents to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, assuring them that adequate security measures had been put in place to safeguard lives and property.
