Operatives of the Lagos State Government have discovered illicit drugs, cash and other dangerous items during clearance operation at the 1004 Housing Estate in Victoria Island.
The operation, being carried out by officials of the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, is part of efforts to maintain environmental sanitation, restore order and enforce compliance with environmental regulations within the estate.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said enforcement officials were clearing obstructions, removing environmental nuisances and addressing activities that hinder the free movement of pedestrians and vehicles.
According to him, illicit drugs, cash and other dangerous items were recovered and seized by the enforcement team during the exercise.
Wahab said the operation was aimed at improving the cleanliness, safety and overall aesthetic appeal of the estate while promoting a healthier environment for residents and visitors.
He added that monitoring and enforcement activities would continue throughout the exercise to ensure sustained compliance and prevent a recurrence of environmental infractions.
“The exercise is being conducted to enhance the cleanliness, safety, and overall aesthetic appeal of the area while promoting a healthier environment for residents and visitors.
“Monitoring and enforcement activities will continue throughout the operation to ensure lasting compliance and prevent a recurrence of environmental infractions,” Wahab stated.
