Lagos seals 12 firms in Apapa, Ijora Causeway

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Wednesday sealed 12 establishments across Ijora Causeway and Apapa areas of the state over persistent violations of environmental regulations despite repeated warnings, abatement notices, and several opportunities granted to enable compliance with the agency’s directives.

The affected facilities include: Helmar Building Materials, located at 8 Ijora Causeway, Ijora; Laprivad Nigeria Ltd, located at Causeway behind Funky Yetty, Ijora; Innocast Nigeria Ltd, located at Saka Alao Street, Apapa; Body Language Shipping & Cargo, located at Liverpool Road, Apapa; Laodo Control Jetty, located at Creek Road, Apapa; Adaps Nigeria Ltd, located at Solomon Agbontan Road, Apapa; and Kehdi Equipments Ltd, located at Burma Road, Apapa.

Others are Bulus Hotel, located at Kofo Abayomi Street, Apapa; Park Inn Hotel, located at Caulcrick Road, Apapa; Mandarin Supermarket, located at Warehouse Road, Apapa; Hamada Enterprises, located at Warehouse Road, Apapa; and Infinity Pirelli Tyres, located at Warehouse Road, Apapa.

In a Thursday statement, the agency said the affected facilities were found to have contravened various environmental regulations and failed to comply with corrective measures issued by the agency.

Speaking on the enforcement operation, the General Manager LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the Amagency’s unwavering commitment to protecting public health and preserving the environment through consistent monitoring, compliance enforcement, and implementation of environmental regulations across Lagos State.

Ajayi stated that environmental compliance remains a collective responsibility, stressing that the agency would continue to intensify enforcement actions against individuals, businesses, and corporate organisations whose activities pose risks to the environment and public wellbeing.

He urged business owners, facility operators, and residents to embrace environmentally responsible practices, obtain necessary approvals, comply with regulatory requirements, and cooperate with LASEPA in its mission to build a cleaner, healthier, and pollution free Lagos.
