The Lagos State Government has launched a digital tracking platform to accelerate the implementation of its 30-year development blueprint, saying the new system will improve accountability, monitor project delivery and ensure government agencies meet their targets.
The digital platform, known as the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP) 2052 Tracking Dashboard, was unveiled on Tuesday during a Stakeholders’ Parley on the implementation of the development plan held in Ikeja.
The meeting brought together permanent secretaries, planning officers from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and development partners to review progress, identify implementation challenges and strengthen collaboration.
Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, said the dashboard would enable the government to monitor projects in real time, assess the performance of MDAs, detect implementation delays early and support informed decision-making.
Represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Lekan Balogun, the commissioner described the Lagos State Development Plan 2052 as the state’s long-term roadmap for building a safer, more prosperous and better organised city.
He noted that while the plan contains more than 400 strategic projects and programmes, its success depends largely on effective execution by government agencies.
“The Plan itself recognizes that implementation is the true measure of success. While it sets out over 400 strategic initiatives, its impact depends on sustained financing, integration into government planning and budgeting, active stakeholder participation and robust monitoring,” he said.
George stressed that the future of Lagos would be determined not by the quality of its plans alone but by how effectively they are implemented, urging MDAs to strengthen collaboration, improve reporting and prioritise measurable results for residents.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Olayinka Ojo, said the stakeholders’ engagement was aimed at ensuring the development plan translates into tangible outcomes rather than remaining a policy document.
She said the commitment and leadership of accounting officers and heads of government agencies would determine the pace of implementation.
“As Accounting Officers and heads of government agencies, your leadership, commitment and ability to mainstream the initiatives into annual work plans, sector strategies and budget implementation will ultimately determine the pace at which Lagos achieves the objectives of the Development Plan,” she said.
Ojo also praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for pursuing long-term investments that align with the state’s development agenda.
She cited the Massey Children’s Hospital, the proposed Lekki International Airport and the Lekki Deep Sea Port as key projects expected to improve healthcare, transportation, trade and economic growth.
According to her, the projects demonstrate the administration’s commitment to delivering the vision contained in the Lagos State Development Plan.
Launched in 2022, the Lagos State Development Plan 2052 serves as a 30-year blueprint for the state’s growth. The plan contains 447 initiatives, with 287 scheduled for implementation between 2022 and 2030, covering infrastructure, job creation, public service delivery and sustainable economic development.
