As emotional stress, anxiety and burnout continue to take a toll on women, the Lilies and Roses Foundation (LARF) has stepped up efforts to tackle the growing mental health crisis with a virtual wellness programme aimed at helping women heal, build resilience and break the silence surrounding emotional wellbeing.
Founded by Princess Winifred Ikeogu, the non-governmental organisation said it remains committed to empowering vulnerable girls and women through advocacy, education, mentorship, health awareness and community development.
The Foundation noted that while women shoulder enormous responsibilities as mothers, wives, professionals, entrepreneurs and caregivers, many suffer silently from depression, grief, financial pressure and emotional exhaustion due to the stigma associated with mental health.
To confront the challenge, LARF will host a virtual webinar on August 16 with the theme: “From Overwhelmed to Anchored: Empowering Women to Prioritize Emotional Wellness, Navigate Overwhelming Seasons and Build Healthy Strategies That Keep You Grounded.”
According to the Foundation, the webinar will provide participants with practical tools for managing stress, preventing burnout, building emotional resilience and recognising when to seek professional help.
A certified mental health professional will lead the session, while participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive expert guidance on emotional wellness and healthy coping strategies.
Princess Winifred Ikeogu said the initiative goes beyond a webinar, describing it as a movement to restore hope and encourage women to prioritise their mental and emotional wellbeing without fear or shame.
She stressed that emotionally healthy women are better equipped to raise stronger families, lead communities and contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Foundation said it also seeks to increase awareness, reduce stigma, promote early intervention and create safe spaces where women can openly discuss mental health challenges.
It called on government agencies, development partners, corporate organisations, healthcare professionals and well-meaning Nigerians to support efforts aimed at improving the wellbeing of women and girls across the country.
The Foundation urged women from all walks of life to participate in the webinar, insisting that healing begins with honest conversations and that no woman should suffer in silence.
