Lobi stars in hot water after financial motivation is retracted

Lobi Stars Football Club, currently struggling at the bottom of the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), has found itself embroiled in controversy just 24 hours after a 1-0 defeat to El Kanemi Warriors on March 3.

The club, with just 23 points from 27 matches, had hoped to lift morale with a financial boost ahead of the crucial match in Maiduguri, as they battle to avoid relegation.

According to an official statement from the club on March 4, a member of the Lobi Stars board, Mr. Harry Yachi, claimed he was sent by the Governor of Benue State to deliver the funds intended to motivate the team.

The money was handed to team captain Solomon Kwambe on behalf of the players and to the team manager for the staff.

Unexpected Turn of Events

In an unexpected and disheartening twist, the financial incentive was later retrieved by Mr. Yachi following Lobi Stars’ loss to El Kanemi.

This latest controversy has added another layer of tension to the club’s already difficult season, as they continue to fight against relegation in the NPFL.
