Burkina Faso’s Transitional President, Ibrahim Traoré, will be honored as ‘Grand Commander of Peace’ (GCOP) at the 14th Pan-African Leaders Symposium and Honours (PALESH) Awards.

The prestigious event, organized by the United Nations Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC), recognizes President Traoré’s outstanding leadership, commitment to nation-building, and transformative governance in Burkina Faso.

The selection process was conducted by the PALESH steering committee, consisting of distinguished figures from across Africa, and was chaired by former Liberian Vice President, H.E. Chief Dr. Jewel Howard Taylor. The decision was ratified by the UNIPGC Global President, H.E. Amb. Dr. Jonathan Ojadah.

Reacting to the announcement, Dr. Kalkomundo Samuel, Senior Special Assistant to the President of Burkina Faso, expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the Burkinabe government, stating that the award is a reflection Traoré’s commitment to peace, stability, and national progress.

The PALESH Awards celebrate visionary African leaders whose governance and policies drive sustainable development and transformation across the continent.
