Manchester United’s pursuit of a top striker has taken a thrilling turn, as the club now finds itself in a dramatic race to secure either Victor Osimhen or Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Osimhen, who has been on United’s radar for over a year, continues to be the club’s primary target. However, the Nigerian forward’s future is now clouded in uncertainty due to the financial implication of the deal. Despite this shift, Manchester United remain intent on landing Osimhen , having watched him dominate in multiple leagues with Napoli and his current form in Turkey.

His deadly goal-scoring record has cemented his status as one of the top forwards in world football. But with Napoli reportedly demanding a staggering €75 million for his signature, United’s financial troubles could put a deal in jeopardy.

Valued at €20 million, Mateta’s future at Palace is uncertain with just a year left on his contract. Should Mateta decline to sign an extension, Palace could be forced to sell—opening the door for United to swoop in. While Mateta offers a more budget-friendly option, questions remain about his ability to shine at a club of United’s stature.

The drama surrounding these two targets( Osimhen & Mateta) intensifies as Manchester United, still reeling from recent poor performances, faces an all-or-nothing summer.
