Manchester United Slump to Defeat at Wolves as Fernandes Sees Red

Wolverhampton, England – Manchester United suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers, further deepening the gloom surrounding Ruben Amorim’s tenure as manager.

Bruno Fernandes’ early second-half red card proved to be the turning point, with Wolves capitalising on their numerical advantage.

The opening goal arrived courtesy of a howler from goalkeeper Andre Onana, who inexplicably fumbled Matheus Cunha’s corner into his own net. This marked the second time in a week that United had conceded directly from a set-piece, following a similar error from Altay Bayindir against Tottenham.

With 10 men, United struggled to find an equaliser and were ultimately punished in the dying moments. Cunha, a constant threat throughout the match, surged forward unchallenged and squared for Hwang Hee-Chan to seal the victory for Wolves.

The defeat marks Amorim’s fifth loss in 10 matches in charge, leaving the Portuguese manager under increasing pressure.

Fernandes’ Recklessness Compounds United’s Woes

Fernandes’ red card, his third of the season, proved to be a significant turning point. The midfielder, already booked in the first half, was shown a second yellow for a reckless challenge, leaving his team a man down.

  • Ruben Amorim (5/10): His team struggled to cope after the red card, and the overall performance was lacklustre.

This defeat will undoubtedly raise concerns among the United faithful. Amorim faces a crucial period as he seeks to turn around the team’s fortunes and restore confidence in his players.
