Mark Cuban Clarifies Remarks on Trump-Supporting Women, Praises Alina Habba

Donald Trump and Mark Cuban in October

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, billionaire entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban acknowledged that he “messed up” when he previously made comments suggesting that women who support former President Donald Trump might lack intelligence.

Cuban clarified his remarks, calling them a “mistake” and offering praise for Trump adviser Alina Habba as well as other women who stand by the former president.

Cuban addressed the controversy surrounding his earlier comment, expressing regret and emphasising that his intention was never to insult or disparage Trump’s supporters.

“It’s part of politics, it was my mistake, and I apologised for it. I certainly wasn’t saying anything negative about anyone supporting Trump,” he stated, underscoring his respect for individuals across the political spectrum.

According to Cuban, his wife Tiffany watched the original interview and had no objections. “She knew what I was trying to say,” he added, indicating that his remarks were perhaps misconstrued or taken out of context.

The Shark Tank star also took a moment to commend Alina Habba, a prominent Trump adviser who reacted to his initial statement. “She is obviously smart and passionate about her candidate, as she should be,” Cuban remarked.

He acknowledged Habba’s dedication and noted that he appreciates the zeal shown by supporters on both sides of the political aisle.

Cuban’s comments come at a time of heightened political tension in the United States, with high-profile figures frequently finding themselves under scrutiny for statements made about opposing viewpoints.

His apology and follow-up statements signal an effort to bridge understanding in a polarised political climate.
