American tech giant, Meta (formerly Facebook), has sacked 20 employees for leaking confidential information to the public.
Meta said in a statement on Monday that the disengagement of the staff followed an investigation that revealed that they shared confidential information outside the company.
The company stressed that it was against its policy for employees to share confidential information and vowed to take similar action when more leaks are identified.
The statement read: “We tell employees when they join the company, and we offer periodic reminders, that it is against our policies to leak internal information, no matter the intent.
“We recently conducted an investigation that resulted in roughly 20 employees being terminated for sharing confidential information outside the company, and we expect there will be more. We take this seriously and will continue to take action when we identify leaks.”
Meanwhile, Meta has resolved to fix a bug causing its Instagram Reels feed to overflow with violent and explicit videos for some users.
“We have fixed an error that caused some users to see content in their Instagram Reels feed that should not have been recommended,” a Meta spokesperson said in a statement to the media.
“We apologize for the mistake.”
