Millionaire cyclist Gary Peacock who harassed young driver faces sisorderly conduct charge

A 73-year-old cyclist who went viral for harassing a driver over an alleged “close call” has found himself facing a citation after dashcam footage revealed the truth.

The cyclist, Gary Peacock, a millionaire from Park City, Utah, confronted and detained 22-year-old Pierce Kempton, accusing him of driving too close to his bike during a ride.

However, dashcam footage from Kempton’s car shows that the young man had actually moved his vehicle to the left to avoid Peacock, contradicting the cyclist’s claims.

The altercation occurred in Park City, where Peacock insisted that police issue a citation to Kempton when they arrived on the scene. Peacock, who was visibly agitated, tried to backtrack when officers informed him that he would also be cited for disorderly conduct due to his actions.

“You were adamant that you asked for a ticket, and now, because you’re getting one, you want him to get out of it,” a responding officer told Peacock. The officer also reminded him that, “He doesn’t have to get out of his car for you, he doesn’t have to identify for you, you are not law enforcement.”

After reviewing Kempton’s dashcam footage, police dismissed the young man’s charge, while Peacock was formally cited for disorderly conduct.

The incident has sparked online discussions about road rage, cycling safety, and the responsibilities of both cyclists and drivers on the road.
