Mutual Benefit, Sunu Assurance, Royal Exchange top stocks to watch this week

The Nigerian equities market recovered from four consecutive bearish weeks to post N437 billion gain at the close of trading last week.

The equities market gained in three of the five trading sessions as the market capitalization increased to N66.257 trillion from the N65.820 trillion recorded the previous week.

Similarly, the All-Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.66% to close the week at 105,660.64 points from the 104,962.96 points recorded the previous week.

The market performance was boosted by strong showings from stocks like MUTUAL BENEFIT, SUNU ASSURANCE, ABBEY MORTGAGE BANK, and ROYAL EXCHANGE to position themselves as stocks to watch in the new week.

ABBEYBDS • 4.73 ▴ 0.43 (10%)

The current share price of Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc (ABBEYBDS) is NGN 4.73. ABBEYBDS closed its last trading day (Friday, March 28, 2025) at 4.73 NGN per share on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), recording a 10% gain over its previous closing price of 4.30 NGN. Abbey began the year with a share price of 3.00 NGN and has since gained 57.7% on that valuation, ranking it 12th on the NGX in terms of year-to-date performance. Shareholders can be optimistic about ABBEYBDS, knowing the stock has accrued 31% over the past four weeks—the third best on NGX.

MBENEFIT has traded a total volume of 106 million shares—in 341 deals—valued at NGN 103 million over the period, with an average of 1.68 million traded shares per session. A volume high of 73.9 million was achieved on March 28th for the same period.

ROYALEX • 1.05 ▴ 0.08 (8.25%)

The current share price of Royal Exchange (ROYALEX) is NGN 1.05. SUNUASSUR • 6.65 ▴ 0.15 (2.31%)

The current share price of Sunu Assurances Nigeria Plc (SUNUASSUR) is NGN 6.65. SUNUASSUR closed its last trading day (Friday, March 28, 2025) at 6.65 NGN per share on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), recording a 2.3% gain over its previous closing price of 6.50 NGN. Sunu Assurances began the year with a share price of 10.75 NGN but has since lost 38.1% of that price valuation, ranking it 149th on the NGX in terms of year-to-date performance. Shareholders’ fears may be allayed by the 25% increase of Sthe UNUASSUR share price since February 28th, which is the fifth best on NGX.

Sunu Assurances Nigeria is the 50th most traded stock on the Nigerian Stock Exchange over the past three months (Dec 31, 2024 – Mar 28, 2025). SUNUASSUR has traded a total volume of 135 million shares—in 4,504 deals—valued at NGN 850 million over the period, with an average of 2.15 million traded shares per session. A volume high of 10.2 million was achieved on January 13th, and a low of 141,148 on March 21st, for the same period.
