There was reprieve for the Nigerian currency as it appreciated against the American dollar at the official window, but closed flat at the parallel foreign exchange market on Friday, March 14, 2025.
According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, FX data showed that the naira appreciated to N1,517.93/$1 on Friday from N1,547.88/$1 it traded on Thursday.
This indicates that the naira appreciated by N29.88 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis.
On the black market, the naira traded at N1,590/$1 same as the N1,590/$1 the previous day.
Similarly, the naira closed flat against the British Pound to trade at N2,020/£1 same as the previous day’s rate of N2,020£1.
The Canadian Dollar still held steady at N1,200/CA$1.
The naira also closed flat against the Euro to trade at ₦1,690/€1 same as the previous day’s rate of ₦1,690/€1.
