Ward 9 in Calabar South Local Government Area witnessed a show of political solidarity as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered to affirm support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid through voice votes during the party’s presidential primaries affirmation exercise.

The event which occurred last weekend drew party faithful in large numbers, with chants, songs, and celebrations marking what organisers described as a demonstration of unity and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The gathering gained momentum with the arrival of the state’s NDDC, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, popularly known as Otu-Ekong, whose presence stirred excitement among supporters.

Addressing the crowd, the Federal Commissioner canvassed support for the continuation of President Tinubu’s administration, saying the President’s return would create more opportunities and accelerate development in Cross River State.

According to Duke, continued leadership under President Tinubu would also strengthen the state’s access to federal support, which he said could translate into more developmental projects, empowerment initiatives, strategic appointments, and other democratic dividends for residents.

He also commended the leadership and members of Ward 9 for what he described as their unity, organisation, and political maturity under the leadership of Ward Chairman, Mr Bassey Okpo-Ene.

Duke described the ward as a model of teamwork and loyalty within the APC, expressing confidence that its support base would contribute significantly to the party’s electoral success in future contests.

The Federal Commissioner representing Cross River State on the NDDC board further appreciated party members and groups within the ward, recognising their contributions and extending personal gestures that attendees warmly received.

Responding on behalf of the ward, Mr Okpo-Ene thanked Duke for what he described as his consistent support, accessibility, and people-oriented leadership.

He offered prayers for the Federal Commissioner, asking God to grant him strength, wisdom, good health, and the necessary resources to continue serving humanity and supporting the APC.

The event ended in celebration as party faithful danced, sang victory songs, and chanted slogans in a carnival-like atmosphere that reflected renewed enthusiasm and commitment among APC supporters in Calabar South.
