Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) Plc has reported its first-half performance for the period ended June 30, 2026, with transaction fees surging by 169 per cent to aN13.34bn as heightened trading activity across the Nigerian capital market boosted the Group’s earnings and strengthened its financial position.
The performance prompted the Board of Directors to approve an interim dividend of N1.30 per ordinary share, reflecting confidence in the sustainability of the Group’s growth, improved cash generation and its commitment to rewarding shareholders while maintaining investments in technology, market infrastructure and strategic expansion.
According to the Group’s unaudited financial results released on Sunday, transaction fees climbed to N13.34bn from N4.96bn recorded in the corresponding period of 2025, underscoring the resurgence of trading activities on the Nigerian Exchange. Listing fees also increased by 59 per cent to N2.38bn, while technology income rose by 19 per cent to N447.86m.
The Group’s overall financial performance reflected the broad-based growth across its operations.
Total income increased by 96 per cent to N19.34bn, while operating profit rose by 155 per cent to N10.62bn, demonstrating strong operating leverage as income growth significantly outpaced the rise in operating expenses.
NGX Group also recorded a 130 per cent increase in its share of profit from equity-accounted investee companies to N4.14bn, largely driven by the robust performance of Central Securities Clearing System Plc (CSCS), further reinforcing the benefits of the Group’s diversified investment portfolio.
The Group’s financial position remained resilient during the period, with total assets rising to N75.87bn as of June 30, 2026, while shareholders’ equity strengthened to N60.49bn from N55.20bn at the end of December 2025.
Commenting on the results, Chairman of NGX Group, Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, said the approval of the N1.30 interim dividend reflected the Board’s confidence in the Group’s long-term prospects and the strength of its first-half performance.
He noted that the Board remained committed to delivering attractive returns to shareholders while continuing investments in technology, market infrastructure and strategic initiatives aimed at deepening Nigeria’s capital market and sustaining long-term growth.
Also speaking, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Temi Popoola, said the first-half performance demonstrated the scalability and resilience of NGX Group’s business model.
According to him, stronger transaction activity, improved listing income and higher contributions from investee companies, combined with disciplined cost management, enabled the Group to convert robust business growth into stronger earnings.
He added that the Group would continue to focus on deepening market liquidity, expanding investor participation, accelerating technology-enabled products and building a diversified financial market infrastructure capable of delivering sustainable value to shareholders.
The Board stated that shareholders whose names appear in the Register of Members on the qualification date would be entitled to receive the interim dividend of N1.30 per ordinary share, while details of the qualification date, closure of the register and payment schedule would be communicated in line with regulatory requirements and the approved corporate action timetable.
