in News

In a historic milestone, Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed approximately 1.6 million kilograms of assorted illicit drugs seized from operations across Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States.

According to a statement from Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy, this represents the largest drug seizure recorded by the agency to date.

The public destruction exercise was witnessed by government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, members of other security agencies, international partners, NGOs, and community stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), represented by the Director of Assets and Financial Investigation, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul, commended the agency’s relentless commitment to combating drug trafficking in the country.

He issued a stern warning to drug traffickers, stressing that there is no longer any safe haven for their activities in Nigeria.

General Marwa emphasized the importance of publicly destroying the confiscated drugs as a clear message of the agency’s unwavering resolve to eliminate drug trafficking and its associated dangers to Nigerian society.
