LAGOS – Is it possible to make over N1 million naira monthly in Nigeria without being a politician or top government official? The answer is yes! It is possible and Nigerians have shared how to make over a million naira monthly while in the country.

Recently, Oluwatosin Olaseinde, founder of Money Africa, a leading financial literacy platform, and Ladda.ng, a savings and investment platform in Nigeria, put up a post on X (formerly Twitter) asking Nigerians to share what they do to earn over N1 million monthly.

The X post read: “For those earning over N1,000,000 per month, what do you do for a living to achieve that income?”

It went viral with over 5 million views and this is what some Nigerians have to say:

Sisi Yemmie: “This is possible as a YouTuber. I introduced someone to YouTube 2 years ago and she called to tell me she just bought land and had already started building… I was shocked. She makes over 1 m monthly from Adsense and offering a service.”

Waziri: “Moved from being a class teacher to working in an international NGO as an education officer. Make a little over a thousand dollars monthly and I work from home.”

Omeniance: “Banking. Most commercial banks from Senior banking officers and above. 1,000,000 naira ~ $642. Still not globally competitive IMO.”

Engr Dannie: “N1m is less than $650. It is easier to make $650 than to make N1m. Focus on earning in dollars, and you will see how pretty easy it is to hit N1m/month income level. We now operate in a decentralised economy; many opportunities abound in the Internet space. You don’t need to live in Dallas to earn in dollars.”

Victor Adejare: “People don’t just wake up and start earning 1m+. They grow their payslips with skills and years of experience. And to your questions, those earning more do more of logic & critical thinking, framework design for those earning less to implement.”

David Onyesom: “Faceless YouTube Scriptwriting. This is one of my hustles. You get to write scripts for foreign clients who have YouTube channels, and they pay from $10-$50 per script. It’s also long-term work. One client, I’ve worked with for 2 years CONSISTENTLY. Amazing hustle.”

These are some of the responses and there were tons of insightful answers.

“I’d like to encourage you that your dreams are valid and you can build your skills to increase your income,” Olaseinde advised.
