The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), would hold a Sports Administration Course (SAC) to strengthen governance and foster development within Nigeria’s sports sector.

This introductory-level course is open to elected officials and staff members of National Olympic Committees (NOCs), National Federations (NFs), club managers, physical education teachers, sports journalists, and other key actors involved in the management and promotion of Sports.

According to the NOC’s spokesperson, Tony Nezianya, the NOC has targeted Sports Officers and Administrators of the RCCG Sports Directorate to equip the youth leaders and coordinators with essential sports management skills.

“This initiative aims to promote structured sports programmes, build leadership capacity, support evangelism through sports, and develop emerging talents within the Church.

“The event is scheduled from July 21 to July 25 at the Sports Complex, RCCG, Mowe, Ogun State,” he stated.

The target group consists of sports officers and administrators from various states.

This initiative is part of the IOC’s global educational programme, which is supported by Olympic Solidarity and implemented through the NOC.

It provides participants with globally recognised training, based on the IOC’s official manual and curriculum.

The course will be delivered onsite and virtually to allow for broader participation.

It will be led by IOC-certified National course Directors, including Dr Esther Aluko, Mr Emmanuel Nweri, and Deborah Chidobi, the Project Officer.

An esteemed lineup of speakers is also expected.

These are: Prof. Fasan Clement – Programme Director, IOC Advanced Sports Management Course, Dr. Akin Amao – former Chairman/Member, NOC Medical & Scientific Commission, and Prof. Dominic Leah Funmilayo – University of Ilorin.

Others are: Prof. Abiodun Morofolu – Lagos State University, Mr. Kweku Tandoh – former Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission,
Mr Oyebode Oluseyi – CEO, Dynaspro Sports Academy, Dr Rasheed Oyhikire – Deputy Dean, Afuze College of Education, and George Ashiru– ASMC alumnus.

Nezianya also stated that the President of the NOC, Habu Ahmed Gumel, would declare the course open.

In a related development, the NOC has scheduled the 4th Edition of the Advanced Sports Management Course (ASMC) at LASU Advanced Resources and Conference Centre, Lagos State University (LASU), OJO, from July 28 to Aug. 1.

Nezianya stated that the session would feature participants’ presentations of case studies on Managing Finance and Marketing, and the delivery of the final topic in the Olympic Solidarity (OS) module: Event Management.

“Oyebode Oluseyi, an astute administrator and ASMC alumnus, will discuss the topic during the session.

“The module will be conducted in a hybrid format—both onsite and virtual space—to allow for broader participation, especially for those who may not be able to attend physically.

“The programme was developed according to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) ‘s ** MEMOS guidelines,” he said.

It will be anchored by the two IOC-approved Programme Directors, with support from Chidobi Deborah, the  Project Officer.

The Secretary-General, Tunde Popoola, will declare the session open on behalf of the President, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel.
