NPP demands the release of Chairman Wontumi after judgement of Sedina Tamakloe

The New Patriotic Party, NPP has demanded that the Chairman of the Ashanti Regional, Chairman Wontumi, be acquitted and discharged as soon as possible.

The demand comes following the judgement by the Court of Appeal earlier today, Thursday, July 30, 2026, that went in favor of former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe Attionu.

In a lengthy communique the NPP released, the party questioned why the Presiding Judge Justice Emmanuel Ankamah, ruled in favor of Sedina Tamakloe Attionu.

The NPP insisted that evidence of the charges such as theft and money laundering just to mention a few leveled against the former CEO of MASLOC was provided.

According to them, the judgement of the former CEO of MASLOC was politically motivated, demanding that Chairman Wontumi should be acquitted and discharged.

A part of the communique reads, “Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Chairman Wontumi, the Regional Chairman of the NPP, must be acquitted and discharged. His conviction and the outrageous sentence of 20 years imprisonment with hard labor, were politically motivated and procured without sufficient evidence, a fact his lawyers have set out in more than twenty grounds of appeal now pending before the Court of Appeal”.
