Governor of Ebonyi State Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has applauded the patriotism of the military, insisting that provisions of logistics and support for the military by the state will be sustained under his administration.
The Governor gave the assurance when the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Waidi Shaibu paid him a courtesy call ahead of the passing out parade of the 90 Regular Recruits Intake holding at the newly established Depot, Nigerian Army, Amasiri -Edda.
“I lack words today, the reason being that what the Chief of Army Staff is doing for us is commendable and very wonderful to me.
“We thank him for the Depot, Nigerian Army in the State”.
He stated that the serenity of peace the state has witnessed is not only commendable, but deserving of support.
“Since the assumption of duty of the GOC 82 Division, we have not recorded any insecurity”
According to him, why the state has not been plagued by the pervasive insecurity “is because God has blessed us with patriotic officers”, reiterating his administration’s support for the military.
Speaking earlier, Lt Gen Shaibu said the Governor’s ideological understanding of reality and in governance context and what governance entails as hallmark of the peace and development mileages recorded the state.
“I want to commend your Excellency that upon assumption of office, the security situation in the state improved.
“I commend Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has ensured the country is developing on a balanced scale.
“Equally commendable is your donation of 3 Toyota Hilux Vans to the Army. This your donation shows your support for the Army and will not be taken for granted”.
On Wednesday, the Governor alongside the COAS will attend the historic maiden passing out ceremony of the newly trained soldiers in the Depot, Nigerian Army, Amasiri -Edda.
