Odukpani Chairman suspends 2 aides over indecent social media videos

ODUKPANI (CONVERSEER) – The Chairman of Odukpani Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Ukpong Etim Asido, has suspended two aides over their social media activities.

Converseer reports that the two aides, Mr Kelvin Bassey Okon (Non-Statutory Special Assistant to the Chairman) and Mr Edet Ekpo Okon (Official Personal Assistant to the Council Secretary), were suspended indefinitely on 9 February 2026.

According to a statement signed by the Chairman on Monday, the suspension follows the duo’s involvement in social media videos deemed indecent, degrading, and contrary to their oath of office.

The suspended aides are stripped of their entitlements, including salaries.

“It has as come to the official notice of the Council that the duo: Mr Kelvin Bassey Okon (Non Statutory Special Assistant to the Chairman) and Mr Edet Ekpo Okon (Official Personal Assistant to the Council Secretary) have been involved in untoward Social Media Videos that is unbecoming, degrading and runs contrary to acceptable standards of their oath of office and totally adveriance with attitudes expected of public servants. The indecent videos are on social media and in custody of the Council for avoidance of doubt (sic).

“On the strength of the above, since the government from the state have (sic) zero tolerance to act of irresponsibility from any public servants (sic), the affected persons should proceed on indefinite suspension from office without salaries, effective from 9 February 2026.

“The appropriate authorities have been duly notified and the affected persons should submit all official documents at their disposal to the office of the Secretary of Council within 24 hours from this publication,” the statement read.
